Prenatal Pilates Classes
Congratulations! Chances are if you are reading
this article you are expecting a little bundle of joy. You are probably
also wanting to ensure that your changing body will not change too
much. Keeping fit during pregnancy is a growing concern among expectant
mothers who understand that exercise will not only ensure a slow
and steady weight gain, but provides the added benefit of keeping
them strong ensuring an easier labour and delivery while also helping
them regain their figures after baby is born.
One of the best forms of exercise for any expectant
mother is Pilates. Taking prenatal Pilates classes
are a great way to keep in shape and to do a form of exercise that
you can modify as your body grows and your balance and flexibility
decrease. That is one of the reasons that Pilates works so well
for expectant mothers – the exercises can be easily modified
to suit your changing body.
If you do decide to follow a Pilates
program when you are pregnant you must always consult with your
doctor or midwife before starting. If you are unfamiliar with Pilates
exercises or you have never taken a Pilates course before then you
should not attempt to simply buy a Pilates workout video and train
by yourself. If you are a newcomer to Pilates then you should definitely
join a prenatal Pilates class so that you can be followed by a certified
Pilates instructor to ensure that you are not making any moves that
can harm either yourself or your baby.
When you are working out you should also listen
to your body for cues. You should stop exercising if you cannot
carry on a simple conversation, if you feel dizzy, nauseated or
faint, if you experience a racing heart, shortness of breath, uterine
contractions, bleeding or leaking fluid, or a headache.
Along with keeping you healthy during your pregnancy
prenatal Pilates classes will help you feel better about yourself
and help you to bounce back much quicker post delivery.
